CAD/CAM Dentistry
Imagine a virtual 3D model of your tooth in front of your eyes. This is the forefront of dentistry, and it is here at our
office. The tooth is prepped for a crown, then the dentist scans the tooth using a wand to create a virtual model, he designs the crown chairside, then send the file wirelessly to the milling machine which mills the crown from a ceramic block. The dentist then use paintbrush to "paint" the crown into desirable shade; and after a brief period in the oven, the crown is complete.
Cad/Cam provides the most accurate margin on crowns, so there is less chance for recurrent decay. And it is very esthetic, often not detectable to regular eyes.
